Accommodation
Our house, a typical Croatian stone house, was initially restored in 2004/05 and again refurbished in 2010. It is situated on the South side of the island in Rukavac old town. Our part of the village was a small settlement of five homes built by brothers in the early 1900’s. At that time our house was a single storey dwelling. During World War II it became a meeting place for the ‘partisans’ and was a target for bombing raids. We are very grateful that these raids were unsuccessful! Later, a second storey was added and the ground floor was used to press and store wine. We renovated the property with the help of a local builder, Braco, who is also something of a local hero (certainly to us). It is now our home and a place that we love to share with our guests, family and friends. In a village community that is only a 5 minute walk from the magnificent Srebrena beach and a 20 minute paddle to the Green cave on the island of Ravnik. We think it is the perfect holiday location. Our place offers much more than the usual 'holiday apartment'. Each of the 4 bedrooms are simply and stylishly decorated, all have AC units, hairdryers, and are en-suite. The middle floor of the house is a shared space, an open plan room with comfy leather sofas, wireless internet and a place to make a cup of tea. From the middle floor you can also access the balcony. The balcony is the perfect place to relax in the afternoon with a good book and a glass of wine. We have no TV, but we do have plenty of games to entertain younger guests and a huge collection of DVD’s for the very rare times they are required. |
