A big part of the WearActive holidays is about the food. We love cooking, eating and sourcing local food. In Croatia we have our own lemon tree, herb plants and small vegetable garden. In
Austria, it's a bit more challenging to grow produce because we are at 1800m above sea level and in winter we are surrounded by meters of snow. We keep trying and so far we are able to grow fresh
herbs and some vegetables in summer.
We believe that food tastes best when it it is fresh, grows close-by and, above all, when it is shared with friends old
and new. In both our homes in Croatia and Austria we have a communal dining table - all guests and hosts sit together to share the meals. Food shared around a large dining table always
taste best when you are all chatting about the following days adventure.
In Croatia we serve 100% vegetarian food. Xania, WearActive founder and head chef in Croatia, is a vegetarian herself. For
those of you that like to eat meat and fish, there are lots of options in the local restaurants to try the local Vis specialities. We serve three evenings meals at the house, giving guests
plenty of opportunity to check out some of the best island restaurants.
In Austria we do serve some meat options as we are supportive of the farming community and traditions of the area around
MoaAlm. In addition there will always be a vegetarian option, which is never an afterthought and always an important part of the dinning experience.
We also cater for special diets. If you are vegan or gluten-free diet, that's no problem at WearActive. Just let us know
in advance and we will make sure that there will delicious breakfast, lunch, cake and dinner options for you too! It's especially important in Croatia to let us know in advance as Vis is a small
island and we sometimes have difficulty finding dairy substitutes.
