Vis Island ACTIVITIES

The holiday is about combining the beauty of Vis Island with our love of being active. We aim to make the most out of each day, exploring by kayak, bike, hike and morning yoga. We have no set daily schedule. We understand that every guest and every day are potentially different. The benefit of having a small group is that we can adapt, discuss and personalise each day. The one thing that we don't have any control over is the weather. As well as guests desires, the weather will also dictate to us what activities we can do each day. During breakfast we will take a look at the forecast, the sea conditions and then give you our days adventure suggestions.

An average WearActive day may look like this: Yoga by the sea before breakfast: Kayak from our bay in Rukavac to the Green Cave on the island of Ravnik: Back to the house for a hearty lunch: After lunch, maybe a siesta and then explore Srebrena beach with a mask and snorkel. On return to the house, Craig will try to encourage you to walk the Slackline with him. Back at the house there will always be a homemade cake, with have a great selection of different organic teas.

In the evening we may take you into Vis Town where you can taste one of the Islands specialities at one of the recommended Vis restaurants and sample a glass of Island produced wine.

Family cycling on Vis island

BIKING

On Vis Island we have different types of terrain to ride, allowing guests with varied experience to enjoy the cycling. We can cruise along and enjoy different parts of the island, appreciating the scenery. There is the option of choosing single track biking routes with challenging off road sections, or staying on the quiet roads to head down to the fishing village of Komiza. Splitting groups is also easy if everyone has a different biking preference. Check out our blog for more information about biking on Vis Island.

Morning exercise on Vis island

YOGA

On Vis we offer a morning stretch. We have no yoga studio at the house, we prefer to walk to the sea where we have the perfect natural yoga studio on the flat limestone area next to the water. We follow a Astanga flow and no experience is needed in joining us for a stretch, we love that it is available for everyone to experience. Often when we finish the stretch we have a quick swim in the sea before breakfast. Could there be a better start to the day? Check out our Yoga blog for more information.

Walking in Stiniva beach

HIKING

On Vis we have well marked trails, some following the coastline, but most are inland, allowing us to explore the unspoilt terrain and make the most of experiencing the abundance of flora and fauna that the island has to offer. Hiking boots are not essential but we recommend closed shoes and long trousers for some of the trails due to rosemary bushes and the occasional cactus!

Family activity holiday

SLACKLINING

Craig started Slacklining a few years ago, after a guest at WearActive introduced him to the activity. Craig’s now completely addicted, constantly striving for higher and longer lines with a few tricks thrown in. Lots of our guests love trying the line for the first time in the afternoons, often finding themselves equally addicted and determined to complete the line by the end of the week. Read our blog about how to walk the slackline.

SUP adventure in Rukavac bay

SUP

Paddle boarding or SUP is a wonderful way to explore the clear waters of the Adriatic, while having a great workout! We generally take them on kayak trips for everyone to experience at some stage during the week. We also have them in the bay close to the house for guests to use in the afternoons. Just to be warned however, our dog Zora believes that the SUP boards belong to her and she is very reluctant to allow anyone to paddle without her! Read our blog about paddle boarding on Vis Island.

OTHER ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE
ON VIS ISLAND

Vis island has lots of other options if you decide to try something different on your day off from our activity program. Sailing is a popular option. You can rent a boat for the day if you have your skipper licence or you can rent a boat for the day with a skipper from the island. Diving around Vis offers a range of options. With one of the dive schools on the island you can do a days diving. Due to the diverse military history of the island, there are lots of wreck dives accessible for the experienced diver. Paddleboard Yoga is also an option in the next bay to ours. The other activity on Vis Island is Cricket! Croatia has three Cricket teams, with the small island of Vis being one of them. If you want to consider a game on the the island then check out Vis Cricket Club. We have had lots of guests in previous years play a game for the island. Craig, your host, has even played for Croatia!
