Xania snowshoe walking

This sporty Welsh woman is co-founder of WearActive and has her own veggie cookbook! In summertime Xania lives on the Croatian island of Vis, running kayak and yoga holidays and in winter she is based with the team at MoaAlm. Winter involves riding her snowboard as much as possible!

Craig slacklining

He does it all: snowboarding, slacklining, mountain biking and kayaking! This Englishman is the co-founder of WearActive and spends his summers with Xania, running  WearActive Croatia from his home on the island of Vis. Often pictured upside down!

Lottie hiking in East Tyrol

Lottie is our marketing queen with a passion for making sure MoaAlm gets the all the credit it deserves. She loves trail running on the forest tracks around MoaAlm and hiking up mountains with her dog Szuka. She is the propagator of game nights, and loves interesting conversations over a glass of wine in the evenings.

Rebecca foraging

As a yoga teacher & holistic health coach, Eva is passionate about all things that nourish body, mind and soul. At MoaAlm, she has found the opportunity to bring all of these interests together: From guiding our guests through their daily yoga practice and preparing delicious plant-based meals to uplifting conversations and adventures in the mountains.

Ligita socialising in Lienz

Becca our head chef, is a passionate advocate for sharing tasty and beautiful plant based meals. Creative and constantly looking for new inspiration, Becca is always excited by all things 'food'. When she's not playing in the kitchen you may find her upside down practising aerial yoga, on her yoga mat or foraging for wild herbs in the mountains.

Ryan ski touring

Ryan is our resident Irishman who, when he is not at work as our handyman and financial guru, can be found traversing high mountain ridges or tackling frozen climbing routes with his ice gear. An all round adrenaline junkie he is currently working on his ski mountaineering skills to try and keep up with the local climbers!

Petra guiding in Hohe Tauren

Petra made her passion and love of nature, into a profession. Originally from Upper Austria, she moved to settle down in Lienz, East Tyrol, located in the foothills of the Dolomites. As a certified National Park Ranger, Petra knows all about the fascinating secrets of the Alps' flora and fauna, and loves to discover and share nature's numerous wonders with you!

Zora mountaing climbing

Probably the fastest member of the WearActive family. Zora loves to join us in the winter season on hikes and ski tours. Her cute one-up-one-down ears make Zora well-known and loved throughout the entire valley. Very calm, she has the ability to hang out with everyone while not invading your personal space.

At MoaAlm we love food!
There is no better start of the day than a nutritious breakfast. We serve fresh fruits, oats and cereals, bread, organic coffee and so much more. After an active day in the outdoors, relax with a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy our freshly baked plant based cake. Dinner is always a delicious three course plant based meal made with lots of love and attention and served on our communal dining table.
We are passionate about healthy sustainable living and as a result the ingredients for all of our meals are organic and as locally sourced as possible. We believe nature knows best when it comes to our health and therefore our daily, three course menu changes with the seasons. Our evening meals are plant based, vegan or vegetarian.
We also like to offer our guests the opportunity to experience to try traditional Austrian fare with a MoaAlm "twist", and we are sure you will enjoy our carefully developed menu with influences from across the globe.

Nationalpark Hohe Tauern

Nationalpark Hohe Tauern

We are proud to be living right on the edge of the national park area of the Hohe Tauern mountain region of East Tirol. The Hohe Tauern National Park is truly unique, as its the biggest national park in Austria and within the European Alps. Highlights of the park are its numerous high peaks,  glaciers, alpine creeks, lakes and of course the untouched mountainous natural environment.
Most of our hikes in the summer, as well as our snowshoe walks in winter are within the national park. It's truly spectacular to walk on the trails that lead over mountains and hills, through empty valleys whilst being surrounded by colourful Flora and Fauna. You are continuously distracted by breathtaking views!
Hopefully while hiking you will experience the Alpine wildlife, among which are the big five: Bearded vulture, Ibex, Golden Eagle, Gams and Griffon vulture. Our hiking guide is also a National Park Ranger and has so much knowledge to share about Alpine life.

For more details on the National Park and why we are lucky that MoaAlm Mountain Retreat is located within it, then visit the National Park Hohe Tauern website.
